Abstract:Based of human capital theory and new economic increase theory, this paper discusses the functional mechanism between education and economic growth Then it makes quantitative analysis pointing to the influence of educational development on the economic growth, through the relevant coefficient and production function, with the relevant statistics about the education and economic growth in Chongqing from 1997 to 2005 The conclusion is that the average level of education is low, and the return on educational investment is relatively high, and the social fixed asset investment is still the important momentum, and the education makes an attribute rate of 23% to the economic growth
