    Abstract:

Based on the theories of construal and subjectivity/subjectification, the author rethinks meaning in traditional Chinese translation theories, then points out that construal is, in fact, a kind of “subjective construal” which can be used to understand the real meaning of the source text and evaluate the target text more objectively instead of experiential evaluation.
