Abstract:Literature, culture and classical Chinese speech interaction in the late Qing has undergone profound fission. As a classical variable wind change blair,diary was specially favored by the late Qing Tongcheng school. As the representative of Tongcheng school, Guo Songtao, both classical masters and highranking officials and foreign affairs, is the first imperial envoy. His diplomatic diary, “Journey to the west”, amplifying and expanding classical Chinese, substictuted the Western knowledge and ideas for the Confucian philosophy and NeoConfuicanism, Because of being real, rational, elegant, thoughtful and readable, the diary with heavy cluture meaning shocked the late Qing Empire. However, Guo Songtao suffered misfortune because of it, and tired for lonely consiouseness.
