    Abstract:

From February 1938 to August 1943, the Japanese army and navy launched intense bombing campaigns centered on the wartime capital Chongqing which lasted more than five years. Chongqing suffered the most severe damages and casualties during 1939, 1940 and 1941. As a witness of the bombing, Song Meiling went to the scenes and consoled the victims in the first time. Meanwhile, she condemned the Japanese atrocities through writings, international broadcasting, and speeches. She also tried hard to persuade Allies’ generosity. Song Meiling’s efforts made a contributed to helping Chongqing Nationalist Government to receive the international sympathy and support.
