Leisure sports and sports tourism have become newly emerged fashions in modern society; however, they should be classified as highly risky sports items because in the course of participation, some unpredictable risks might occur This paper takes leisure sports and highly dangerous outdoor mountaineering in sports tourism as the major research objects and adopts approaches of statistics and theoretical deduction to conduct a thorough analysis of mountaineering accidents happening between 2001 and 2010, with the purpose to explore ways and measures in risk management and safety guarantees in mountain-climbing in China so as to promote a scientific, safe, healthy and orderly development in this sports item
