Abstract:Basic features of geo-materials always show spatial variability to some extent because of their natural cause of formation. It’s difficult to give a full description of the field basic features of geo-materials by use of limited tested data. The values of parameters which represent the field basic features of geo-materials have great influence on the design results of geotechnical engineering. In this paper, a concept of genetic features for geo-materials is first proposed,and a definition as well as some attributes for the concept are also given. Based on big data analysis theory and a large amount of data collected from actual projects in Chongqing, a method of searching genetic features of geo-materials is put forward. A software system about the genetic feature analysis for geo-materials is developed and it can be used for collection, analysis and management of geo-materials data getting from practical engineering. By use of the system, more than 70000 data about genetic features of typical geo-materials in Chongqing are collected and analyzed, some typical genetic maps of geo-materials in Chongqing are obtained. It is proved that genetic features of geo-materials are useful and valuable for the choosing and determining of geo-materials parameters as well as the construction of geotechnical engineering.
