The horizontal, vertical or oblique thermal cracks widely present in a masonry structure are summarized in this paper. The reasons for these cracks are analyzed.On basis of these causes, different methods called" readjusting", "releasing" and "resisting" for short, can be taken respectively in structure design to eliminate the cracks.
