Improvement of building energy efficiency, as a part of sustainable development strategy, makes great contribution to global environmental protection and energy security. Presented in this paper are: the history of energy conservation, a comprehensive overview of the technological options for building energy conservation, measures taken to improve building energy efficiency and some suggestions suitable for China.
