As key technique of digital urban planning, research on urban planning models supported by GIS and remote sensing become one of the concentrations in urban planning. According to the objects and aims of model,this paper suggets to separate the models into two kinds.integrate planning models and engineering oriented models. The progress in research of these models as well as analysis of the trends and countermeasures of the models research are introduced.
