This paper begins with a brief introduction to the research status of factors influencing farmers’ land transfer behavior. A model for studying such behavior was set up using an ordered probitOprobit) regressive method. Data from field questionnaires completed by 142 farmers in two counties in Jiangsu Province, P. R. China, show that the land transfer behavior of farmers is related greatly to their family security level, the number of farm laborers, the number of nonfarm laborers, the value of agricultural assets, the number of years of they have held their land, and other factors. We conclude with suggestions to promote the transfer of farmers’ land.
