Abstract:This paper develops an easy-maintenance transmission steel pole structure with a self-centering feature by introducing prestressing technology and a specified device. Under extreme loading conditions, the structure fails at a specified location so to protect other components. Additionally, the specified device is designed to be replaced conveniently after it is damaged, so it entitles the structure the feature of easy-to-repair. The new design contributes to green construction and sustainable development by reducing the entire structural damages of the power transmission lines. In this paper, a flow chart for this newly easy-maintenance transmission steel pole structure is proposed. Structural behaviors of this new design are studied through theoretical analyses and pushover testing.
