Surcharge preloading and vacuum surcharge preloading are common methods to deal with soft soil foundation in engineering. Through the comparative study of surcharge preloading and vacuum surcharge preloading(the foundation treatment project of Zhoushan Futong cable), it can be seen that the efficiency of vacuum surcharge preloading has higher stability and better settlement, horizontal displacement and smaller deformation of the surrounding.It can make weak boundary has a stable state.
