Shading design is one of the important factors that affect building energy saving and indoor light and thermal comfort. The sun shading system can reduce the solar radiation, reduce refrigeration energy consumption in summer and glare problems, but at the same time, it will lead to higher lighting energy consumption and heating energy consumption in winter. In order to study the energy saving potential and environmental comfort of typical shading control strategies for hotel buildings of the cold area and the hot summer and warm winter area in China. The influence of three shading forms and ten control strategies on energy consumption and comfort under different climatic zones is simulated by COMFEN. Their performance is assessed through cooling, heating, lighting and total energy consumption, light and thermal comfort and comprehensive optimization index. The simulation results show that the shading control strategy will affect the building energy consumption and indoor comfort. According to different optimization objectives, the corresponding optimal control strategy is given. The selection of shading strategy and design is different between the two climatic regions. Through the analysis of the differences, some suggestions are provided for the design of shading system.
