The design approach to the total automation systems of city light rail transit (LRT) is discussed, according to the specialty of city transport systems. Based on the operation modes and basic functions of LRT, the scheme of automation systems by using of the networked PLC systems is introduced. The general analysis for each sub automation systems is given, and the redundancy and fault tolerant function are emphasized.
