    Abstract:

    An improvement on synthetic procedure of cinnamic acid is made, using potissium carbonate as catalyst and PEG-400 as phase transfer catalyst. The synthetic yield is increased to 65.3% and the reaction time is shortened by optimization through comparing the quantity of potassium carbonate, molecular weight of PEG, reaction time and temperature by using the orthogonal design.
