With the improvement of openup policy in design region,English for sepcial purpose(abr:ESP) will have more and more powerful function in getting the latest knowledge and communicating with the foreign company. At the same time, the student who is major in urban planning has get much better foundation after Yangtze University enforces the freshman education department management mode, the tradition education mode has can’t meet the demand of the major. Through the analysis of existing problem and the characteristic of the major of urban planning,this paper argues that we should construct a more reasonable teaching structure of ESP, change the teaching content, improve the structure of teacher team, compile new teaching book, improve the atmosphere of English study to make a more reasonable teaching structure of ESP and get a better effect. The content of this paper will do a favor to the effect of ESP and the improvement of the work capability of student.
