We analyzed basic features of applicationoriented talent training of urban planning specialty from two aspects including the talenttraining goal and basic requirements of specialty cultivation. Based on the analysis, we proposed several ways to optimize the curriculum system, which are setting up main theoretical courses to promote the combination of specialty education and occupation experience, establishing correlative knowledge courses to reinforce diversification of subject construction, reinforcing practical teaching to improve students’ occupation skills, and dividing occupation direction and increasing elective courses to increase student’s independence and selectivity.
