    Abstract:

    Courses relevant to the professional skills that are important for civil engineering practice, such as communication, teamwork, project management, and understanding of the relationship between engineering and society, are not given in the current teaching system. Problembased learning is presented as a strategy for expanding the civil engineering curriculum to include concentrated study and a problemsolving experience, as well as engaging students in the process of learning how to learn.
