Based on the talents cultivating goal of application-oriented universities and colleges, the status and problems of experimental teaching of civil engineering materials were analyzed. According to the career and industry oriented principle, the proposed reform approaches were strengthening open tests to complement the shortage of basic experimental programs, cultivating students’ ability of scientific exploration, keeping the consistency of requirements between the theoretical teaching and laboratorial operation, and improving the construction of laboratory.
