The foundation of design is an important course for the landscape architecture majors. In the teaching process, it is universal that students are weak at comprehending three-dimensional spaces in designing, and they prefer to pay more attention on the graphics skills. Based on the exploration of the teaching reform on landscape preliminary design course for freshmen of landscape architecture, we proposed an innovative teaching method to help students gradually practicing the ability of space comprehension and construction via models.
