In recent years, it has become the consensus of universities to integrate ideological and political education into professional courses. Teachers should strengthen the cultivation of students' ideological and moral character while imparting professional knowledge. As a traditional overseas Chinese school, Huaqiao University should pay more attention to the ideological and political work of overseas students in professional classroom teaching, not only to make students better adapt to professional study and independent life, but also to make students correctly understand China's cultural background and development status. Taking the course of Basic Principles of Steel Structure as an example, this paper discusses the experience and enlightenment of ideological and political construction of the course by using classroom teaching, party building in the branch and engineering practice.
