    Abstract:

Under the background of new engineering construction, the experimental teaching of rock mechanics is an important link to cultivate undergraduates" exploration and practical ability. In response to the current problems of the lack of close integration between teaching content and practical needs, the lack of rock collection and sample preparation processes, and the single teaching methods in the rock mechanics experiment course, a reform plan for the teaching of rock mechanics experiments is proposed. The plan includes three aspects: (1) Combining the course with engineering cases, transforming the virtual into the real, and stimulating the students" desire for exploration and knowledge; (2) Combining offline courses with online communication, universities build online classrooms and invite relevant project leaders to give lectures; (3) Introduce artificial intelligence and teach new data processing methods. The reform plan has achieved good teaching results in the rock mechanics experiment course for undergraduate students majoring in geological engineering at Hohai University, stimulating their interest in learning, enhancing their problem-solving ability, and cultivating them to become composite talents with innovative spirit.
