    Abstract:

Local colleges and universities have limited resources, civil engineering majors have strong practicality, and the international training of engineering-related majors based on existing conditions has always been a challenge faced by local colleges and universities. Taking the School of Civil Engineering and Architecture at Wuhan Institute of Technology as a research object, this paper explores the implementation approaches of educational internationalization reform in the process of cultivating engineering-specialty postgraduate students in local colleges and universities. By analyzing the current situation of education internationalization of postgraduate students in civil engineering majors in local colleges and universities, several existing problems are summarized, such as insufficient implementation of educational internationalization concepts, lack of educational internationalization resources and platforms, poor cross-language communication skills, difficulty in carrying out engineering internationalization practices, and inability to directly test the effectiveness of talent cultivation. And a series of targeted solutions are proposed, such as strengthening institutional construction and forming an international education system, fully exploring the human and material resources and establishing a mechanism for mutual benefit and sharing among multiple schools, creating a language environment and strengthening foreign language training, using engineering problems as a link and strengthening domestic and international cooperation, and quantifying evaluation indicators and establishing a long-term tracking feedback mechanism. The practice shows that the above methods can solve some practical problems in internationalizing education and training for postgraduate students in civil engineering majors in local colleges and universities, implement postgraduate education in line with international standards, effectively improve the quality of talent cultivation, and promote the cultivation of high-level professional talents who are familiar with domestic and foreign professional knowledge and have international exchange and cooperation capabilities. The proposed international path of postgraduate education is also applicable to other practical engineering majors. It can provide some reference for local universities to carry out international postgraduate talent training in similar majors.
