    Abstract:

The ‘Steel Structure’ course at Hohai University implements the overarching idea of ‘people-oriented, moral education and outstanding characteristics’ to cultivate the ability of steel structure analysis and professional design. It focuses on students and strengthens ideological leadership, promotes the construction of intelligent courses with the goal of empowerment, practices the concept of blended teaching with the classroom as the center, and cultivates the competence framework of ‘research, innovation and synthesis’ with the competence as the center. We have created national online and offline blended first-class undergraduate courses and other high-quality resources, and completed the teaching material system centered on national planning textbooks. Fully applying online open courses, smart courses, and other online resources, adopting a hybrid teaching mode, integrating in-class and out-of-class teaching content, covering 3 stages (before, during, and after class), 2 dimensions (teachers and students) and 2 levels (online and offline) of teaching. Based on 32 hours of offline teaching, the syllabus specifies 16 hours of online teaching. The university and enterprises collaborate in integrating production and education and practical training, AI-assisted knowledge mapping and wisdom empowerment. Through the construction of resources, an 8-channel hybrid teaching output system has been formed, covering 15 teaching links before, during, and after class. The integrated competence enhancement system of ‘seminar-practice-analysis’ has been created, which integrates the seminar harvest (knowledge) into the practical output (action), and tests the practical output results (unity of knowledge and action) through face-to-face case analyses in the classroom, to let the knowledge and action return to the classroom, and to let the competence sublimate in a double way.
