    Abstract:

The increasingly complex and diversified new tasks of the construction industry in the new era require that the current talent training programs in colleges and universities should be fully adapted to the needs of industrial development, and cultivate innovative and top-notch talents in the field of architecture. Through in-depth analyses of the employment dynamics and development direction of undergraduate architecture graduates from Hebei University of Technology in recent years, it is found that employment choices are no longer confined to the traditional field of architecture, but are gradually developing in the direction of multidisciplinary cross-fertilisation. The strengths for the disciplines of Architecture, Building Environment and Energy Application Engineering, Civil Engineering, and Artificial Intelligence were combined adhering to the idea of interdisciplinary integration, and inheritance and innovation. Based on the concept of “employment-oriented” and the goal of “cross-innovative talents”, an attempt at a pedagogical activity, that intersects architecture with related disciplines in a multidisciplinary way, was proposed to implement targeted talent development programme for undergraduate students. The cultivation goal of multidisciplinary innovative and top-notch talents in architecture was defined, and a multidisciplinary cross-curriculum system was designed and formed, to lay a good foundation for comprehensively cultivating excellent architectural talents with a sense of nationalism, comprehensive qualities and adaptability to the needs of the society.
