Abstract:The Belt and Road Initiative has entered its second decade of high-quality development, which not only ushers in new opportunities for the internationalization of China’s education, but also puts forward new requirements for China to cultivate scientifically and technologically competent talents with international competitiveness and boost the industrial upgrading of countries along the routes. The Belt and Road Emerging Engineering Education Community serves as the intersection of national strategies—including the development of a strong education system, a strong science and technology nation, the innovative growth of emerging industries and future industries, and the cultivation of a large pool of talented people—and the Belt and Road Initiative. It is imperative to deeply grasp the inherent logic of the integrated development of education, science technology, and talent cultivation, establish a comprehensive, multi-level and wide-ranging international ecosystem of emerging engineering education centered on nurturing innovation-driven scientific and technological talents, stimulate the vitality of core participating entities, supporting service providers, and supervisory and coordinating bodies, and collaboratively cultivate high-caliber scientific and technological talents equipped with engineering literacy, cross-cultural communication capabilities, as well as a profound sense of patriotism and mission. These efforts will contribute to the solid and in-depth advancement of the BRI and facilitate the implementation of various national strategies.
