The teaching of urban design should not only cultivate the students' ability to deal with and control the shape of the space, but also cultivate the students' design ideas and sense of worth. Sustainable development is an important concept of urban development. The comprehensive sustainable development covers ecological, economic and social aspects. Combined with professional teaching, the paper studies the ideas and methods of urban design teaching in theory teaching and practice teaching, conducting the discussion of monographic study, and embedding the study in the whole process of practical teaching step by step. The aim is to cultivate the concept of sustainable development in urban design teaching, and train students to fix the concept of sustainable development in the design.
