    Abstract:

After the Ministry of Education promulgated the "Opinions on Accelerating the Construction of High-level Undergraduate Education to Improve the Ability of Talent Cultivation", first-class undergraduate construction has become an urgent need for China's higher education reform. The high-quality undergraduate education of American liberal arts colleges leads the world. Williams College, as a representative institution of American elite undergraduate education, focuses on undergraduate teaching and cultivates a large number of elite talents, which can be described as a typical example of undergraduate education. Williams College's high-quality enrollment is the premise guarantee of undergraduate quality. The consistent admission system facilitates the admission process, and strict qualification review ensures applicants' quality. With liberal arts education as the core of undergraduate education, Williams College provides broad curriculum and rich research training opportunities to implement the essence of liberal arts education. Its teaching activities are focused on the combination of internal and external classrooms, the development of students' subjectivity and the development of physical education. The learning support relies on close teacher-student relationship and a variety of learning groups. In the construction of first-class undergraduate education in China, we should adhere to "comprehensive assessment and high-quality enrollment", "liberal education and general development", "classification guidance and characteristic development", and "resource integration and platform construction".
