Working towards the goal of scientific development and establishing harmonious society,China has selected Chongqing and Chengdu as pilot reform cities targeting coordinated rural and urban development,which is a strategic perspective at the new stage of developmentA major difficulty that faced by southwestern China is the economy development of the dual structure in urban and rural area To solve this problem,governments of southwestern regions should strengthen cooperation to complement one another and secure common development, establish “onehour economic circle”for large cities so as to form a distinctive economic zones and belts Mean while,they should vigorously push forward balanced economic development of urban and rural areas,enhance interaction between urban and rural, secure common prosperity in pilot reform cities,speed up the innovations in systems and mechanisms for urban/rural development and eventually deepen the reform and take positive steps to promote scientific development and harmonious society
