Contemporarily cognitive context study has been growing up into a main stream. Many scholars have done fruitful study on its definition, constituents, category and application, but few on its dynamic construction process and mechanism. This paper probes cognitive context’s attributes and think that the construction process of cognitive context should involve stimulating schemata which embodies a metaphorical and metonymical thinking pattern, then it goes further to prove that the metaphorical thought pattern takes place for the construction of new knowledge and metonymical one is for the conventional common knowledge.
