Based on the fulltext news coverage and related news headlines from 1938 to 1943 in the New York Times, this paper uses Framework theory of mass communication and combining the description, explains and analyzes of the threestep measure for textual analysis It explores the news concept and newspaper’s features which are reflected from the “Chongqing Bombing” reportage by focusing on different elements such as quantitative analysis，typical content and characteristics of reports. Furthermore, it explores the image of Chongqing, the wartime capital of China from the particular perspective of the New York Times as one of Western mainstream media
