Abstract:In this paper, taking the night view lighting project of the center of the Chongqing city as an example, which is in the visual field of Yikeshu landscape stage in Nanshan of Chongqing, an approach to the lkghting project is suggested. It takes the landscape feature of mountainous city with abundant stereo perception and hierarchy into account and meets the demand of multi-level,multi-orientation and distant sightseeing. This approach is characterized by point,line,plane and body planning, vertical kierarchy, horizontal area division with emphasis on problem of light and color treatment.

Abstract:As a new discipline, Chaos theory was ushered in the revolution in physics of the 20th century, which is of jistoric significance. Chaos theory is concerned with the objects in our tangible world (macro world) with the measure of human beings. In this paper, a brief analysis of chaos theory and fractals is given and then the enlightenment and new perspective for urban planning from chaos and chaos theory are illustrated. The author hopes that!this paper could draw the concerns of designers regarding the application of chaos in urban planning.

Abstract:Based on the principle of the foundation coefficient " m-k " method,the ginite difference method is presented to analyze the internal forces of a whole prestressed anchor stabilizing pile. The calculation and figure treatments are programmed. An example shows that the high precise solution can be obtained if the segments are small enough, though more computing time may be consumed. Obviously,the calculation precision is better than that of traditional method. The results of figure treatments by the program can optimize the construction design of stabilizing piles. Three kinds of support condition are taken into account.The foundation coefficient "m-k " method applies to the situation that above the slide-surface is soil layer or efflorescence layer,while below the slide-surface is terrane.

Abstract:In order to study the acoustic emission of rock under compression by means of the rock acoustic parameter dynamic testing system (RAPDTS), some uniaxial compression tests on a kind of limestone from Guangxi Province were carried out. It was concluded that the formations of new micro clefts generated in the rock and the enmargements of existing clefts are the principal factors that cause the acoustic emission.

Abstract:A one-dimensional contamination diffusion model for tunnel fire is presented. Based on this model, a highway tunnel fire within a short time course was simulated and analyzed. Compared to the test results, the simulation result demonstrates that the model is feasible. In the end, it suggests a formula for highway tunnel fire contamination. The author hopes that this analysis will be available as the foundation of highway tunnel fire control.

Abstract:Sonoprobe method has been applied in non-destructive inspection of anchorage project. Its fundament is to cause anchor bar's elastic vibration by dynamic transient excitation and the flaws of anchor bar can be estimated or deduced by determining the transient response. The numeric solution!of hyperbolic equation by FEA indicates that the deductions should comply with the acoustic parameters such as sound velocity, vibration range, wave shape etc., when inspecting the interior flaws in grouting of anchor bar. As a non-linear dynamic system,"the artificial neural networks dealing with quality inspection of gray system have been proved efficient.

Abstract:Based upon the detailed analysis for the influence of unfavorable live load distribution on multistory frame beams and columns in regions of earthquake intensity category 8, a few conclusions have been achieved on that when the unfavorable live-load distribution should be considered and when not. They could serve as a reference for practical structure design.

Abstract:Piping transport system is a developing technology with wider prospects, which has been applied extensively abroad; it is still in embryo in China. Abstract:Firstly the incapability of supervising engineers in dealing with disputes is discussed. This paper analyzes the similarities and differences between the methods of disputes settlement under the provisions of the new edition of FIDIC Conditions and the two main domestic civil engineering contract conditions.It is argued that the DAB proposed by the new edition of FIDIC Conditions and the dispute mediator suggested by the Irrigation Works, Water and Electrical Works and Civil Engineering Construction Contract are reasonable and necessary.

Abstract:Dumping sites, which are still the main disposal facilities for municipal solid wastes (MSW) in China, have caused severe environmental pollution. It is urgent to upgrade or reclaim these dumping sites to reduce their environmental risks. In this paper, the management and technological aspects for pollution abatement to these dumping sites, as well as the latest practices were summarized and discussed.
