    • Two Dimensional Nonnegative Sparse Partial Least Squares for Face Recognition

      2013, 35(Z2):73-77.

      Abstract (1179) HTML (0) PDF 7.50 M (765) Comment (0) Favorites

Abstract:Partial least squares (PLS) algorithm has been widely used in face recognition recent years, but the improved algorithm of PLS did not consider both the constraint of nonnegative and sparsity to improve the recognition accuracy and robustness. To take over these disadvantages, the paper proposes a novel approach to extract the facial features called Two-dimension Nonnegative Sparse Partial Least Squares (2DNSPLS). The main idea of the approach is grabbing the local features via adding the constraint of nonnegative and sparse to 2DPLS, which make the approach gain not only the advantages of 2DPLS, incorporating both inherent structure and category information of images, but also the local features, having nonnegative interpretability and sparsity. For evaluating the approach’s performance, a series of experiments are conducted on two famous face image databases Yale and PIE face databases, which demonstrate that the proposed approach outperforms the state-of-art algorithms and has good robustness to occlusion.

      2013, 35(Z2):129-133.

      Abstract (664) HTML (0) PDF 6.33 M (524) Comment (0) Favorites

Abstract:The bank slope failure is closely related to the rise and fall of river level generally. In order to analysis the influence of the rise and fall of river level on Jin’an River bank slope stability in Fuzhou, the saturated-unsaturated seepage of bank slope with revetment was modelled based on the engineering geological condition of some bank of Jin’an River, and the effect of rise and fall of river induced by the DRWWOS(Drawing River Water to Wash Out Sewage) project on bank slope stability was studied. The results show the silt lying on the slope toe impedes pore water change, manifesting as in its sphere of influence river water is hard to flow into the bank when river rises, and the pore water pressure can not dissipate in time when drawdown. The faster the river rises, the more stable the bank slope becomes. On the contrary, the larger river level falling rate is more likely to leads to bank slope failure. Due to the poor bank drainage performance, the frequent rise and fall of river level results in pore water pressure increasing further, then impairing the bank slope stability. During DRWWOS project, the river level falling rate control and pore water pressure dissipation must be paid enough attention to. Also, replacing silt lying on the slope toe by good permeable material is a good choice to reinforce the bank slope.

    • Study of Cracks on Rubber Concrete Beams Based on Fractal Theory

      2013, 35(Z2):157-159.

      Abstract (667) HTML (0) PDF 3.83 M (717) Comment (0) Favorites

Abstract:The flexural performances of a rubber concrete beam and a ordinary concrete beam are studied under concentrated load through the experiment. The influences of the content of the rubber powder in the rubber concrete beam on the bearing capacity and the crack width of beams are analyzed. The experimental results show that the crack distributions on two beam surfaces possess the characteristics of self-similar in statistical sense. The maximum crack width of the rubber concrete beam is less than that of the ordinary concrete beam under the same load level. The performance of anti-crack of the concrete beam is improved by adding the crumb rubber. Using the fractal theory, the fractal dimension values of the surface crack of the beams under different load grades are calculated and the relationship between the fractal dimension and the maximum crack width of the surface cracks is established.

Abstract:Taken Lanzhangtian Bridge as engineering background, used ANSYS to simulate whole construction process refinement of numerical analysis. The results show that the crack resistance check in service ability limit state according to Code for Design of Highway Reinforced Concrete and Prestressed Concrete Bridge and Culverts, full prestressed concrete's normal section in the combination for short-term action effects allow certain tensile stressσst-0.8σpc≤0.1ftk. Combined with concrete biaxial pull-pressure strength interval in Code for design of concrete structures, when the tension is very large, concrete may also exceed strength envelope and destruct even compressive stress level is low. So according to the Code for Design of Highway Reinforced Concrete and Prestressed Concrete Bridge and Culverts, the compressive resistance check of bottom plate should also meet transverse normal section pressure stress limit σ≤0.6ftk.
