As one of the major solutions for IP traffic on the Internet backbone network, the new technology-IP directly transmission over SDH(IP over SDH) is obtained vast attention in recent years.In this paper,the principle and technological characteristics are introduced in detail.And the related fields,such as the relationship between IP over SDH and router the simplified data line(SDL) protocol and the aplication prospect are discussed.
