Abstract:An extended function of SOCKS firewall that enables smooth heterogeneous communications between the IPv4 nodes and IPv6 nodes based on the SOCKSv5 protocol is introduced, the architecture of translating IPv4 and IPv6 by applying the SOCKSv5 protocol is presented, there are two models of translating IPv4/IPv6 techniques and its mechanism, principle are more illustrated in details, an example for a SOCKS client securely transparent accessing to remote destination computer with different IP addresses is discussed. As well as the techniques of Direct Address Translation and DNS Name Resolving Delegation are developed , which it keeps the old SOCKSv5 firewalls' advantages, and shows another new characteristics. Therefore, the new firewalls technology are presented much wider application fields.
