As a basic skill for civil engineers, concept design which is important to structure safety and reasonableness needs comprehensive application of specialized knowledge. It is necessary to emphasize the idea of concept design in course teaching of highrise building structure. In this paper, the method how to establish exact conception of design is discussed by the way of explanation of the code and book contents, as well as practical examples, which is helpful to students for further study.
