Historical development of the conception of culture was analyzed.The paper interpreted logical basis of urban culture in the view of structuralism theories.Architecture and city can be studied from three aspects: utility, culture and art.Accordingly, architecture and city can be viewed utensil, cultural symbolism and aesthetic image.This paper emphatically discussed cultural meanings of architecture and relevant issues of urban morphology and urban life.
