Abstract:Education theories are essential to the development of secondary vocational English textbook as to provide theoretical guidance for distinct targets, suitable goals and scientific choices and arrangements of materials. The focus of humanist education on students as the center and student’s competency accords and emphasizes the capital features of vocational education; while constructivist theories of context and collaboration offer theoretical basis of the construction of working places via textbook. Taking Hotel English as an example, this thesis analyzes how the theories of humanism and constructivism collaborate with the features of vocational education in the development of secondary vocational English textbook.
