独立学院是中国高等教育由精英教育走向大众化教育过程中出现的一种新型办学模式，其培养的学生既有当代大学生的共性，又有比较鲜明的个性。在这种特殊的环境下，独立学院的英语教师在教学上面临着一些特有的困惑和难题。文章对独立学院英语教学的现状进行反思，提出几点相关的教学建议：转变教学思想，调整教师角色；尝试分级教学，满足不同层次的学习需求；授人以渔，突出能力的培养；提高专业水平，丰富教学方式。

The independent college is a new educational model in the process of elite education to popularization higher education in our country. Students in the independent college have similarities with general college students and some distinct personalities. Due to the specialties, English teachers in those colleges are faced with some particular puzzles and difficulties. We presented current teaching situation and proposed several related teaching suggestions including changing the teaching thoughts and adjusting teachers' role, trying graded teaching to satisfy the learning needs of students with different levels, teaching students the method of learning and training their learning abilities, and enhancing teachers' professional standard and enriching teaching methods.
