社会对英语人才的更高要求与中国独立学院非英语专业的大学公共英语教学注重传统的基础英语教学的矛盾越来越突出。基于ESP专门用途英语理论和实践，文章以独立学院四川传媒学院的新闻专业大学英语教学为例，探讨在独立学院将新闻专业与大学公共英语教学相结合，从而使学生的公共英语学习助推其专业的学习与发展，并提出了一些关键而具体的教学实践以及评价方法，以构建大学公共英语结合专业发展的教学模式。

There is a growing conflict between the increasing demands for English Learners from the society and the college English teaching which focuses on traditional fundamental English in independent colleges. Based on ESP (English for special purposes) theory and its practice, this thesis takes the major of Journalism in Sichuan University of Media and Communications as an example, to discuss the teaching of combining the major developing and college English teaching, therefore to promote the students’ major development. This thesis proposes some crucial and specific teaching approaches and evaluation methods in order to construct a teaching model of combining major development and English study.
