The curriculum system is the main part of the student training program of the major, and the key factor of major characteristics and major connotation. It is also the base of major construction and major reform. In this paper, taking the curriculum system of civil engineering major of the Xi"an University of Architecture and Technology as an example, which was well reformed and optimized to Strengthen major characteristics and enrich major connotation, the reforming and optimization practice of the major curriculum system were introduced. The major courses, and the core curriculum group, as well as the elective curriculum system, were firstly introduced, and then the foreign language curriculum system, bilingual curriculum system and innovation-entrepreneurship education curriculum system as well as MOOC curriculum were presented too. The curriculum system reform and set-up experience introduced in this paper have good reference value for the designing of civil engineering course system and major construction in other colleges and universities.
