At present, a lot of colleges and universities are promoting curriculum ideological and political construction in China, and the general education course is an important carrier for curriculum ideological and political construction with distinct value shaping function. General education runs through the whole process of university education and plays an important role to cultivate students overall quality such as humanistic literacy， moral sentiment，and social responsibility. There are also a series of problems in the course of general education teaching for science and engineering colleages, and there are mainly reflected in the management system and incentive mechanism of general education, designing curriculum content, building teacher team, contradiction between general education and professional education, teaching methods and so on. Science and engineering colleges can overcome those problems by a series of general education or teaching reforms, for example, improving management system, strengthening the top-level design of general education courses, training teacher team, combinating of both general education and professional education or discussing teaching mode. At the same time, the teaching quality of general education must be improved by using of the Internet + tools and increasing students' participation in teaching. Taking the civil engineering general course ‘Subway Culture’ as an example， the paper discusses the teaching idea for overcoming problems of general education course teaching, and shares the interactive teaching method of "student-centered", and explores the teaching mode of general education course in science and engineering colleges. It provide some reference, guidance and reference to promote the construction of general education curriculum in science and engineering colleges.
