In response to the current requirements of the Ministry of Education for civil engineering majors and the development of societal engineering technologies, this paper analyzes the importance of practical teaching in civil engineering education. It particularly focuses on introducing the characteristics of civil engineering majors at Dalian University, innovative talent cultivation programs,and the establishment of on-campus and off-campus internships and practical training bases. These insights can serve as references for local and industry-oriented universities offering civil engineering majors such as "Civil Engineering", "Architecture", "Architectural Environment and Energy Application Engineering" and "Engineering Management".
