The research object is the 3393 articles of the Journal of Architecture from 2002-2022 included in the database of China Knowledge Network (CNKI). With the help of CiteSpace tools, the knowledge graph, keywords, research hotspots and frontier issues of authors and research institutions were analysed, with a view to providing a reference for the research development of the architectural discipline. The study shows that the number of articles published in the Journal of Architecture fluctuates over time, with a clear research development trend. The research areas are mostly focused on architectural design, urban design, architectural conservation and architectural education. Traditional villages and urban regeneration have become hotspots in recent years. The research is generally characterised by a high degree of disciplinary concentration, cross-fertilisation and policy orientation.
