目前，环境工程专业教育在欧洲已得到普遍的重视。1999年8月在瑞士苏黎世市召开的第一届欧洲环境工程教育（Environmental Engineering Education，简称3E）研讨会，就环境工程的内涵与外延、环境工程专业课程设置及环境工程专业设置等开展了广泛的讨论。章就上述几方面的问题作一介绍。
