As the renewal cycle of steel structures’specialty knowledge should been shorted by the incessant, and then the teaching for steel structure course period is limited,it is impossible for the student to learn the whole course and master the specialty knowledge on campus. Therefore, it is very important to let the student acquaint study methods during the teaching of steel structure course. The author discusses how to strengthen the autodidact consciousness and train the autodidact capacity during the teaching for steel structure, that includes arrangement of teaching content, design of teaching methods and the support services system’s instauration etc.
