Chongqing is a typical area as an integration of urban, rural, mountainous and reservoir areas, where the contradiction of urban-rural dual structure existed. To break the pattern of urban-rural division, we must solve rural issues and accelerate urbanization considering the balance of urban and rural development. In this paper, we proposed suggestions for accelerating urbanization in Chongqing in the new period based on the analysis of urbanization situation and problems in Chongqing.
