Academic English plays a very important role in the education of engineering colleges of P. R. China. China’s WTO accession brings more and more international exchange. To training talents adapted to the social development, academic English teaching is more important in universities and colleges, which is an impetus to bilingual teaching. Based on my experience in academic English teaching, some aspects of teaching in geotechnical engineering such as objectives of teaching, selection of textbooks, and teaching methods were introduced. In addition, how to improve the teaching effect of academic English was discussed as well.
