Lately, Harvard University starts up a new undergraduate curriculum reform which is named general education，it is significant to higher education in China This paper analyzes the background of the reform, and introduces deeply its goals and contents, especially the curriculum system which includes 8 subject areas Finally, 4 aspects of enlightenment from the reform are put forward
