    • Knowledge Spillovers and the Division StructureChoice of Leading Enterprises within Clusters

      2011, 17(1):18-23.

      Abstract (1437) HTML (0) PDF 1.27 M (769) Comment (0) Favorites

Abstract:Division and collaboration with supporting enterprises will enable leading enterprises to enjoy the efficiency brought by specialized production, but it could also make their innovation knowledge spillover passively as a result of supporting enterprises’ leakage. So, there are two forms of division structure between leading enterprise and its supporting enterprises: open and closed. The choice bases on the innovation pattern among leading enterprises, while the key factor is the leaking probability of supporting enterprises. The case of Taizhou sewing equipment industry cluster shows that, under the condition of complementary innovation among leading enterprises, the probability would be higher when the supporting networks of leading enterprises overlapped each other, and then leading enterprise chose open division structure, otherwise chose the closed. And the degree of overlap influenced by the spatial distribution of the leading enterprises within the cluster. In addition, the knowledge protection atmosphere of the cluster has a certain impact on the leaking probability. Meanwhile, the case also illustrates that the different division structure has different effect on the development of enterprises.

      2011, 17(1):35-41.

      Abstract (2759) HTML (0) PDF 1.77 M (1072) Comment (0) Favorites

Abstract:The price risk of Brent, Dubai and Minas Crude Oil market with GARCH model at Normal distribution is analyzed in this paper, and the results are examined by using Kupiec test. The price volatility is significantly described; price risks are measured as well. Because China sets its refined oil price according to Brent, Dubai and Minas Crude oil market, the correlation between the three markets are analyzed based on their historical data. The results present that the weights over the three markets at 0.2389: 0.5759: 0.1852 would be minimized oil cost volatility in China's refined oil market. The results are tested by Monte Carlo simulation, too. Giving the international oil price at 75 dollars/barrel and taking 95% confidence level, China’s oil cost volatility could be reduced 0.16-0.17 dollars/barrel in the method mentioned in this paper compared with common empirical methods.

The proposed model analyzes the agent’s actions when the manufacturer adopts three kinds of incentive contracts. One of the three incentive contracts is linear contracts——fixed commission contract and the other two are piece-wise linear contracts——increased commission or decreased commission contract, floor and ceiling contract. The results show that the agent’s efforts change with the parameters in the three contracts. The manufacturer can choose the form of the contracts according to the different goals such as spreading a new product, or realizing a certain sales target.
